  2. There's a hardware compatibility catalogue here http://thcc.name You can add any hardware and your hackintosh experience with it to share that with the world. You can look if someone already had any issues with hardware like yours. Laptops, desktops, all-in-one's.
As he has not yet released the port to OS X 10.11 El Capitan, I made a minimal modification to the source code he has kindly made public so that it runs fine. Setting up Please download the preference pane from this download link. Double click the resulting preference pane. If you already have an older version of MenuMeters, the System Preference will ask you if you want to replace it. Please answer yes. The System Preference might complain that it cannot be loaded. In that case please quit the System Preference once, and relaunch it. It should work. You might also need to uncheck and then check the various meters to re-activate them, once the new version of the MenuMeters preference pane is open. MenuMeters 1.8.1 official for 10.10
  5. Hey Everyone, ? I'm not a Mac user AT ALL, but my brother has asked me to find a way for him to run some Mac only applications on his PC laptop.? ? I made a VM running Mavericks in VMWare Workstation 10, and it's up and running well. However, the main app that the VM was created to run requires hardware acceleration, and I can't get the program to go beyond the splash screen without it.? ? The program is Final Cut Pro, and the machine the VM is running on is an Acer Aspire something with an Intel processor. Not sure of the processor's exact specs at the moment, but I know it's quad core and 2.4 GHz ? Does anyone have any idea whether or not it's possible to enable hardware acceleration on a VM, and if so, how to do it?

    Is my PC Compatible?

What version of mac os can i install on my PC? Also can you link me up to it?? ? Motherboard: ?ASUS M5A78L-M LE CPU:?AMD Athlon II x2 250 GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 630 2GB DDR3 ASUS Edition Ethernet:?Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller RTL8168 ?Thanks. ? EDIT: I was able to install Mac OS X on my system Tutorial Is Here
  7. Hello Everyone, ? This Full List of Hardwares e.g Motherboard ,Audio,Ethernet,Wifi,Graphics which are natively Supported in Mac OS X or needs ?patches to activate them through kexts,DSDT,Kernel Flags etc. ? This Forum contains lots of similar questions e.g. These are My System Specs are supported ??? so there is an answer for those Question .this my little effort to Save your time in creating post/thread waiting for reply/answer bcoz we can't make up for you waiting ,time means alot . plz read before buying/building/creating hackintosh . ? ? Note : It does not mean that the hardware not listed here does not work with OSX, this table means that the hardware listed here works out of box with OSX or it is easier to make it work with OSX. ? When you buy new, you should always consider components in-order from top->bottom as the components from top of the table would be the one added recently and would be compatible with the latest version of OSX. Also, make sure the components you select here according to your budget are compatible with each other, that is the motherboard you select should be compatible with the processor you select. One way to make sure of it is to see the socket of the processor eg : 1150,1155,1156 ?and your ?motherboard should have the same socket support.? ? Bios: As per we know UEFI Bios Motherboard and laptops their Bios are fully comaptible with OSX but Some of Vendor's Like Asus,MSI,Asrock have Locked Bios for their own so that are not supported then you need to patch you Bios..in the Latest Intel Chipsets 8 Series Board's Bios of Most of Vendor's are not locked means you don't need to do anything? ? ? ? Processor (CPU): - 1st, 2nd (SandyBridge), 3rd (IvyBridge) and 4th generation (Haswell) Intel Core i series processors are supported including 2011 socket SandyBridge-E/EN/EP and IvyBridge-E/EN/EP Core i7/Xeon cpus. Simply, Core2Duo / Core2Quad / 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Generation Core i3, i5, i7 / Xeon 3xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx, E3, E5, E7 processors are supported. ? - AMD processors are not supported but by using Patched Kernel ?AMD is fully supported . ? Motherboard: - Please read with attention and do not continuously ask questions about your motherboard compatibility. ? - Most of UEFI/Non-UEFI Intel chipset motherboards are supported. Simply, chipsets from 945G to C6xx are supported. Common chips are 945, 965, 975, P35, P43, P45, P55, G31, G41, G43, X58, H61, HM65, HM67, H67, P67, Z68, Z77, X79, Z87 and C6xx. South bridges from ICH5 to newest Intel 8 Series are supported. (ICH5-6-7-8-9-10, 5-6-7-8 Series) ? - Besides the main chipset model, a motherboard has many components. Every component itself may or may not be compatible and even may be problematic for Mac OS X. Also, BIOS of the motherboard may be problematic for this OS. Because of these reasons, some motherboards will not be able to run this OS easily, they might need hard effortsin order you to make it work and some of them will never run it. Search google and try it on your computer. If a hardware is compatible with OSX, then it is compatible with Mavericks, simple as this 8-) Most of Gigabyte Motherboards are recommeded for Hackintosh bcoz they have full hackintosh support . ? Graphics (GPU): - Intel Graphics HD 3000, HD 4000 and HD 5000 are supported, the rest are not. HD 5000 driver supports HD 4200, HD 4400, HD 4600, HD 5000, HD 5100 and HD 5200. ? - nvidia vga cards from G80 core to the newest Tesla series are supported on 10.9.1. This does not mean that all of them will work of course but most of them will work with Mavericks. Simply, nvidia 8xxx / 9xxx / 1xx / 2xx / 3xx / 4xx / 5xx / 6xx / 7xx cards are supported. ? - About ATI, Mac OS X 10.9 and Clover bootloader gives us more hope and less pain about ATI support. Simply, ATI 7xxx/6xxx/5xxx/4xxx chipsets are supported but of course still more pain and less success comparing with nvidia. Mavericks has some options for ATI's including device_id injection and framebuffer override packages to make more of the ATI cards work with less pain. Still, many of the users may have to take some additional steps to use their ATI cards after installation. ? -Connectors/Ports for Connecting Monitor - They are also Main Part of OSX means shows how you have connected your Monitor with Cpu ,so following are Connectors/ports for Hackintosh:: 1.Dvi (Recommended) 2.HDMI ?(Hdmi is not fully functional in Hackintosh you need to Patch APPLEHDA for Audio working ) ? 3.Thunderbolt port ?(if your Motherboard have Thunderboalt Support/port) 4.Display Port (Optional i have not tested it yet) 5.VGA (As we know Mac OSX Doesn't Supports VGA for using VGA you need to patch your kexts but it's not recommeded in Mavericks by me ,,so another option is Descrete Graphic Card which allows you to use you graphics with full qe/ci). ? ? Network Devices: - Common wired and wireless network devices that are auto-detected by N{censored} Distro's. There may still be problematic chips but most of them will work OOB with Mavericks . - Intel Gigabit and Intel Pro/100 - Realtek RTL8111, 8168, 8101E, 8102E, 8131E, 8169, 8110SC, 8169SC - Atheros AR8121, 8113, 8114, 8131, 8151, 8161, 8171, 8132,8151, 8152, 8162, 8172 - Broadcom BCM5722, 5752, 5754, 5754M, 5755, 5755M, 5761, 5761e, 57780, 57781, 57785, 5784M, 5787, 5787M, 5906, 5906M, 57788, 5784M - Marvell 88E8035, 88E8036, 88E8038, 88E8039, 88E8056, 88E8001 Wireless: Some chips (ie. Atheros ar5008, Broadcom BCM4311) are natively supported by OS X. So, this is not the complete wifi support list of OS X. - Atheros AR9285, 9287, 9227 - Broadcom BCM4312, 4321, 4322, 43224, 43225, 43227, 43228, 4352 (Some of these broadcom chips need rebranding in order to work on OS X.) here is link which have full list of compatible wifi chipsets? RAM: - ?Minimum amount of RAM is 2GB,But i Recommended to use minimum 4GB. ? Sound: - Sound device is auto-detected by VoodooHDA and nearly all of the onboard sound devices are supported.if you have issue with audio like whistling ,sluttering etc. then your own onboard or externel card Kexts? Realtek ALC8XX is fully compatible with Mavericks . ? Disk Space: - Recommended minimum amount of disk space for installation is 30GB. (Software RAID installation is supported and all operations are automated for all of the bootloaders.) ? KeyBoard/Mouse: you are able to use old keyboard/mouse means PS/2 keyboards mouse but you will have some trouble with it ,so my recommendation is to USB or Wireless Keyboard/Mouse. ? Notice ::This guides doesn't means your hardware is fully supported it's compatible and able to work with ,if it's work OOB then you don't need to do anything otherwise you need to put some efforts? ? ? ? original post written by Deepak

Do I have the correct hardware?

Hello, OSx86 members! I'm new to this forum, but that's not the point. I'd like to know, if my hardware is compatible with Mac OS 10.8. I already used the compatibility checker from here and it looks like this: Everything seems to be compatible expect the network controller @14E4 and the display controller @10DE. Is it normal that it almost every device is shown as 'unknown'? My setup looks like this: OS (if important): Windows 8 x64 CPU: Intel Core i5-2380P (4x3,10GHz) RAM: Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB) HDD: Samsung HD321KJ Graphics card: NVidia GeForce GT630 Mainboard: ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe ? Z77 Chipset ? Bluetooth ? SATA Mode: AHCI ? Hardware virtualization enabled BTW, I'm using the mainboard's UEFI-Bios (version 0902). Thanks for help.
  11. Hello, I'm an independent C++ developer going to cross-platform recently. My main development environment is under Windows 7 and I've several Virtualbox machines around for dev & tests. About Mac OSX, I've successfully installed a 10.6.8 Snow Leopard using Darwin legacy kernel 10.8 v2 (installed from a "Snow_Leopard_10.6.1-10.6.2_SSE2_SSE3_Intel_AMD.iso", then updated with "MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.8.dmg" and MB{censored} patch as stated in the guide I've followed). These last days, I've changed my main dev station to stop waiting hours at every compiler options change and be able to launch several vrtualbox machines at the same time. Then, I've moved all my Virtualbox machines toward my new PC... And all my Windows and Linux guests work well, but not the OSX one : it simply stucks on the grey Apple screen (or a black screen if I use the -v boot switch). I've tried to change OSX guest's settings and even disabled the maximum of possible components (COM ports, USB, sound, NIC), but it's still the same result. I've also tried different boot switches like -x -f and -F, but it didn't helped. So, is there a safe way to move my OSX guest from my old host to the new one ? I've taking care to buy a new AMD-based PC to preserve my OSX guest, but it seems to be not enough. And, honnestly it would be a nightmare to re-install from scratch ; since I've several OSX guests and the dev one is highly prepared with my dev environment (libs, IDE, dev. tools, compiler, debugger, etc). Is there a way to debug and succeed to boot my OSX Snow Leopard guest on my new host PC ? For information (hardware being are surely important, even if Virtualbox is supposed to isolate guests), my old PC was a ABIT KN9S motherboard with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (2-core, 2GHz) and 4 GB of RAM (all 4GB being in use using PAE option and a ramdrive at upper 1GB beyond the 3GB limit) under Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. My new PC is a Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 motherboard with an AMD FX-8350 (8-core, 4GHz, slightly overclocked to 4.3GHz by autofeature of UEFI/BIOS) and 16 GB of RAM under Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. In both cases (old and new host), my OSX guest is configured to use one CPU core only and declared as "Mac OS X" version (not "Mac OS X 64-bit") ; however, I've tried to change this on the new host and it doesn't succceed to achieve booting. Hoping in your lighted advices... I'm in the fog right now ;s -- EDIT : maybe it can help to identify the issue (maybe not), but I've try to reinstall a new fresh OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard guest from "Snow_Leopard_10.6.1-10.6.2_SSE2_SSE3_Intel_AMD.iso" and at time to boot on this install DVD, I get the error screen that you can see in the attached image below (screen-capture from Virtualbox). Image in real size at ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting So, could it be an incompatibility with my graphic (AMD Radeon based) card in both cases (fresh OSX install and existing moved OSX guest) ? If yes, how to workaround (should I change my graphic card or is there a way to inject the right OSX drivers) ? -- EDIT #2 : the vm_page_set_colors error (see the image above) during fresh install is solved using the boot option "colors=32" (seen this tip at AMD FX 4100 - can't boot into any version of OS X [Archive] - InfiniteMac)... But another fatal error occurs later doing Virtualbox displays "Virtualbox stopped to work" (my translation from a French message)... So, at this step, knowing neither setup nor existing OSX succeed to boot, I'm wondering what to do to solve the problem ? -- EDIT #3 : I've found a combination of boot switches which works So, we can consider it's solved, unless the fact I don't really know what are the essential switches and what are the optional ones to succeed to boot. My current successfull combination is "colors=32 cpus=1 arch=i386 busratio=20" and "-v" to see what happens. Also, I get a double panic on system exit (using the apple menu), but i's another (and minor) problem.

    Given up

Okay everybody, this is basically my hate letter. I wanna start off by saying I'm done with this hackintosh bullshit. Im not normally known for one who gives up on something but this Osx86 project I've been working on is pointless. This is probably the stupidest thing I've ever done. Never did anyone tell me you practically needed the same hardware as a Mac machine. If you don't have 100 percent top of the line hardware, none of your components will work. Its completely pathetic. I have a 2010 acer aspire notebook, no kexts ever work. So i'm telling everyone that this whole process is completely pointless. Bitch at me all you want. I worked on getting my wifi, sound, and graphics to function DAY AND NIGHT. ALL DAY ALL NIGHT countless hours and days sitting on this damn computer and nothing? This hackintosh thing is completely a waste of anyones time who doesn't have the latest and most common hardware. Just a for-warn to any newcomers. I'm not blaming the community for my hardware problems, but I am blaming the community for the lack of communication. What I mean is, this OSx86 community provides hardly any help to anyone. How many time did I post questions on this forum and how many were answered? none. Useless site talking about useless things. Fuck hackintosh! Amen.
  17. Hello everyone. I am new to the forum as a poster, but not new to the site by any means. Prior to discovering OSx86, I had probably less than 10 minutes time spent on a Mac in my life and it was mostly surfing the web on friends'. I do a lot with audio and video and wanted to see what OS X was all about since people always scoff at me for using Windows for those things. I dove into research mode and have already spent, literally, the past week and a half straight when I'm not at work working on this. I've been getting about 2-3 hours sleep a night because I can't stop trying to get the install right, that's just how I am. LOL. Anyways, I didn't want you guys to think I got lazy and decided to make a PLEASE HELP ME! post right off the bat. I'm finally posting on here because I've exhausted all options I've found, or because my inexperience in the Mac world is causing me to overlook or miss something. I don't ever have a problem I can't fix/solve on a PC running Windows, so this is a new feeling of joy/frustration for me. So here's my scenario, laptop being used is spec'd as follows according to CPU-z & Windows Device Manager: Acer Aspire 5920-6914 (NOT the 5920G w/nVidia graphics) BIOS: v1.3813 (most current available) HDD: WD Scorpion Black 500GB 7200RPM Advanced Format (Split into 2 partitions, 300GB for Vista & 200GB for OS X) CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz 800MHz FSB "Penryn" Memory: 3GB DDR2 333MHz Chipset: Intel GM965 (rev C0) Southbridge: 82801HBM (ICH8-ME) (rev B1) Video: Mobile Intel® 965 GMA X3100 with 256 MB of GDDR3 VRAM 1280x800 (Full QE/CI) [8086:2A02 Rev 003] Audio: Intel HDA (Listed in Windows as Realtek HDA) [10EC:0888 Rev 1001] Wi-Fi: Intel 4965AGN [8086:4229 Rev 61] Lan: Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet [14E4:1693 Rev 2] I don't care about the camera functioning, I won't use it. When I first dove into exploring this, I opted to go for the iDeneb Leopard 10.5.5 install. Install after re-install completing sucessfully with various combos of options and kernels checked off, I'd wind up with a black screen and a mouse pointer stuck in the top left of the screen and a second pointer I could move around but the screen stayed black. I eventualy realized this was being caused by my checking off of the "X3100" video drivers install. Long story short, installing the iDeneb 10.5.5 with ONLY AppleAzaliaAudio, ICH-x Fix, Powermanagement fix and running the Vanilla Kernel was my ticket to happiness. Installing in this fashion led me to full video support with all resolutions listed, working headphone out and onboard speakers and volume knob (that's all I care about), and the ACPI battery functioned perfectly. Sleep, restart and shutdown all also functioned perfectly. I couldn't seem to find a resolution for either the wired or wireless internet (unless something's changed and there's a solution now) so I gave up on trying and planned to snag a new card that was compatible with both Windows and OS X. So you're thinking...well, that doens't sound like he has a problem... Well, then I said OK, that was Vanilla 10.5.5 with just a few small fixes...Let's go Snow Leopard as most programs I want to use require it anyways. So I installed Retail Snow Leopard 10.6.3 using the USB method. It installs and boots perfectly, using the Chameleon RC2 bootloader on the USB. But now, I only have 1024x768 listed for resolution, the video card is not being supported. I have no sound. Sleep doesn't work. The battery display and reading doesn't work, lists battery as 0% and won't let me check off "show battery on toolbar". I have tried EVERYTHING I can find to fix all of these issues and have had ZERO success. So here's what I've tried, all of which DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEMS. Battery: VoodooBattery.kext, changing my SMproductname to MacBookPro5,1, copying over the Powermanagement.bundle from the iDeneb install, DSDT auto patcher, MB{censored}. Video: tried boot in 32 bit, various kexts from people's success posts with Aspire 5920's, google'd kexts, kexts + DSDT from osx86.net, DSDT auto patcher, MB{censored}. I do not want to use a force res string, I want the card to actually be functioning properly. Audio: copy and install AppleAzaliaAudio.kext from iDeneb install, various AppleHDA kexts, VoodooHDA, various Realtek ALC888 kexts, DSDT auto patcher, MB{censored}. NOTE: The VoodooHDA kext gave me everything EXCEPT internal speakers which out of all things is the main thing I want. I really only care about the internal speakers and headphone out. Sleep: This I JUST noticed wasn't working in Snow Leopard for me right before I came back to Windows to type this out. I'd like for the computer to do like it does in Windows and Sleep if I close the lid. I was able to successfuly update from 10.6.3 to 10.6.7 using the updates directly from Apple's site. I never have any boot freezes or issues until I start going in and swapping kexts and messing with things. I know there are plenty of people with this exact computer that have done this successfully, so it's becomming more and more frustrating that I can't figure out what I'm missing here. As it stands right now, I've got a totally bone-stock 10.6.7 install ready to go. I will be forever grateful if someone can just give me a simple step by step to fix this. Again, all I want to fix is sleep, the battery, video and audio (onboard speakers and headphone out) (and either wired lan or wifi if there IS a fix for that now, but I don't want to compromise system stability). I hope I have provided everything you will need but let me know if you need any more info. Thank you tremendously in advance. -Eric
