See here my grand-grandfathers pocket watch, which he got as a present for his fiftieth birthday.

It was the year 1912 and this little piece of engineering art works accurately to the second as of today.

The watch body was made of Sterling silver, the winding button is gold.

Lets see how the iWatch performs in hundred years from now. ;)

There are no pictures of Heinrich Riek, as far as I know.

Our house was hit by a RAF phosphor bomb accidentally in 1943 (see operation Gomorrah) and burnt down to the Cellar.

Out of pure luck there were no casualties, but everything was gone, except for that watch a small planer and three little mocca cups.

Heinrich was wagon maker by profession, and I was told he felt most comfortable in his working gear - carrying the planer in his pocket.

He started his business with these kind of wheels BTW:
