  2. Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 for Windows

The iPhone Dev Team has just released an updated version 0.9.6b2 of Redsn0w which is based on Geohot?s limera1n exploit and it can jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPad (on iOS 3.2.2) and iPod touch 4G / 3G / 2G (Non MC Model only). Besides, this new version also offers custom boot land recovery logos for the older devices like iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) iPod touch 2G (Non MC), and iPhone 3G, along with the ability to let Windows users restore to a custom IPSW files that are cooked using PwnageTool for Mac.

This release like the previous one also supports iOS 4.2 Betas but beware as Cydia and tons of others stuff is currently broken on iOS 4.2.

The instructions are exactly similar to the ones posted earlier for both Windows and Mac OS X users. Simply download Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 for Windows or Mac from the links given below, and then follow the complete step by step instructions posted here (for Mac OS X), and here (for Windows) to jailbreak iOS 4.1.

NOTE for Unlockers: Unless and until you are using it to restore to a custom ipsw file WITHOUT the upgraded 05.14.02 or 2.10.04 basebands, DO NOT use Redsn0w as it will upgrade your baseband to the latest version, hence making it impossible to unlock on iOS 4.1 (for now).

  3. RestoreTools ( Purple Tools )

    https://youtu.be/wXZiEEacZOo

PurpleRestore is a tool made by Apple and is used for flashing iDevices. It provides far more customization than iTunes, and it is usually used to flash internal firmware to prototypes.
This tool can (and is meant to) handle multiple restores. When performing restores PurpleRestore color coordinates the device in the table and when the device is about to receive the AppleLogo it will turn the background color of the screen to the color assigned to the device. Like iTunes, PurpleRestore communicates with iDevices using a usbmux connection.
"PurpleFAT" is an Apple Factory Activation tool, assumed to be used in factories for UUT's (units under test). If the unactivated device is plugged into a computer and the software is run, it searches for the device and would activate it (Seems not to work and just plays a sound saying "Oh nooh!") PurpleFAT needs an activation sever. https://albert.apple.com/WebObjects/ALUnbrick.woa/wa/deviceActivation does not work.
Application can be locked for some security reasons, and requires a passcode when unlocking the interface (This passcode is stored in a string, when dissasembled can be found at __text:00003089).
PurpleSNIFF is a tool made by Apple to read identification and diagnostic information from the device. The tool is used by Apple engineers as well as factory workers at Foxconn/Pegatron. It's included in the RestoreTools package.
Like iTunes, PurpleSNIFF communicates with iDevices using a usbmux connection.
PurpleBuildSanitizer is an Apple internal Mac application for stripping internal builds for internal use. When creating a stripped bundle, it names the folder like so, N92-INTERNAL-INSTALL-iPhone3,3_4.2.6_8E200_Restore.

  5. PwnageTool 4.1

    PwnageTool 4.0 Release Info

On Monday, Apple released firmware 4.1 for the iPhone and iPod touch devices. ?This of course was a major upgrade.

As advised, you shouldnt have upgraded your devices if you have previously relied on our tools for hacktivation and/or a carrier unlock.

With that said, today we are releasing PwnageTool 4.1

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST CAREFULLY, THERE ARE KNOWN UPGRADE TRAPS AND DIFFERENT UPGRADE SCENARIOS THAT NEED TO BE FULLY UNDERSTOOD AND CONSIDERED BEFORE USING THESE TOOLS.

Each supported device has few different scenarios that users need to consider when performing the upgrades, you need to check below and perform the upgrade in the particular way that matches your current device state.?

NB: With PwnageTool 4.1 certain devices are?not supported??this is because they are not supported in iOS 4.0 or they are not supported by our software. ?Were working on ways to get past these restrictions.

    iPhone 2G ?- not supported

    iPod Touch - not supported

iPod Touch 3G - not supported

PwnageTool 4.1 only recognizes the official IPSWs that came out yesterday. ?If you had developer access to the "4.0 GM IPSWs, do not try to use those.

    iPhone 3GS

Summary: Currently, PwnageTool only works on previously jailbroken 3GS devices with the old bootrom.?

If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS with the OLD BOOTROM and you DID NOT use Spirit to jailbreak then you can create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore with your jailbroken recovery mode.?

If you have an iPhone 3GS with the NEW BOOTROM this is NOT supported by PwnageTool 4.1

    iPhone 3G

If you have a?Jailbroken iPhone 3G at 3.1.2?(but?not?jailbroken with Spirit) then you should create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore from recovery mode or DFU mode.

If you have an?out of the box iPhone 3G?you should restore using a PwnageTool 4.1 ipsw using DFU mode.

If you have a Jailbroken 3.1.3 iPhone 3G it is?very possible?that this can fail from recovery mode, if this failure happens you will need to restore using DFU mode.

As an alternative to PwnageTool, you can use redsn0w on iPhone 3G (on both Windows and Mac) as mentioned in our last post.

IMPORTANT!?Whenever you need to enter DFU mode, you will need to do so?using PwnageTool.

    ?iPod touch 2G

If you have an iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) that is jailbroken (but not with Spirit) then you can restore using recovery mode.?

As an alternative to PwnageTool, you can use redsn0w on non-MC iPod Touch 2G (on both Windows and Mac) as mentioned in our last post.

    Baseband Unlock

As you probably know by now, ultrasn0w has been updated to cover all basebands from 04.26.08 onward. ?Many thanks [email protected]_hashim?for finding the crashing command that the new ultrasn0w 0.93 uses! ?He worked hard at finding the crash, and he kept it confidential until the right time to use it.

iPhone 3G and 3GS baseband unlockers (those who rely on ultrasn0w to make phone calls) should always be very wary to update their firmware, however our Ultrasn0w application will unlock all recent (including the current) 3GS and 3G baseband firmware versions. ?Once you are jailbroken using PwnageTool 4.1, install ultrasn0w from Cydia and youll be unlocked. ?

Remember! This baseband unlock situation is rare, should you upgrade your iPhone blindly at the next iOS release please dont expect an unlock - but for?now?you are OK (whatever state your baseband is in).

  7. redsn0w 0.9.5 BETA (update: 6/17/2010)

The redsn0w beta has been updated for 4.0GM on iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (non-MC version). Multitasking and homescreen wallpaper are turned on by default (Apple doesn't normally allow this on these 2 devices). You can deselect these features if you choose.

A version for Windows is now provided.

Just like our other betas, this one intentionally doesn't "hactivate?? the iPhone. Please wait for Apple's public release of 4.0 for that part of it.

YOU SHOULD STAY CLEAR OF THIS BETA SOFTWARE IF YOU RELY ON A CARRIER UNLOCK. That's because the beta redsn0w works only if your device has already been upgraded to the stock 4.0beta1/beta4/GM IPSW from Apple, which contains a baseband update. If you installed that IPSW, you've already lost the carrier unlock until the next planned release of ultrasn0w and blacksn0w.

The tool is very simple to use. Here are the Steps:
    Select file to decrypt
Enter key if not found automatically -- Get them from this wiki
    Chose output folder
    Click Decrypt DMG
Windows: Use 7-Zip to extract the DMG, then the biggest file
    Mac: Mount the DMG

  10. iPhone 4 Carrier Fix ( Windows only )

DO NOT DELETE the Setup.app located in /applications/setup.app
Inside the folder there are several files Setup.app the (Info.plist) on (Multiterms.xml) on (ResourceRules.plist) and (Setup-Entitlements.plist) open the files with iFile and look the same files are opened and look for differences in the variables (True or False) so that the files on your iPhone will stay the same files that I've been through.
    Then we went to (/var/Mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.purplebuddy.plist)
And we verify the following rows if the value (True) (ActivationState) on (SetupDone) on (SetupState) on (WildcardActivated) on (RestoreChoice) and (SetupFinishedAllSteps) some lines that I name can not have them then add them to the file from your iDevice
Add the file to the Preference.app General.plist folder on your iPhone, and you also have to modify the data_ark (/ var / root / Library / Lockdown) and change the variable (BrickState) to the value (True).

  11. TinyUmbrella (latest) for 6.1.2 [win/mac]

    TinyUmbrella

TinyUmbrella is a combination of two earlier tools, both of which were written by semaphore. It requires Java and iTunes to be installed. (Windows users need the 32-bit version of Java, regardless of OS architecture).

Umbrella -- used to save the SHSH file of your iDevice to make it possible to later downgrade or restore the firmware. It even works with non-jailbroken devices.
TinyTSS -- local server used to playback saved SHSH files during an iTunes restore.

In addition, TinyUmbrella can also preserve the baseband on iPhone 4 (GSM model) devices.

    Quick Notes

If Cydia returns only some of the SHSHs you desired, it is because Cydia does not have the others. Sorry. Nothing you can do to get them.
TinyUmbrella needs admin privileges to listen on port 80 and to change your hosts file.
    Mac users:
Fixing your permissions can help with the 255 error on startup.
Mac users that just cannot get TinyUmbrella to work properly -- Install TinyUmbrella to your /Applications directory then run
    /Applications/TinyUmbrella.app/Contents/MacOS/umbrella-tool
    from the Terminal.
Disable Web Sharing (System Prefs -> Sharing -> Uncheck Web Sharing)

[*]Windows users: Disable IIS (see for more info). Also make sure Apache is not running.
[*]All users: Disable Skype while running TinyUmbrella.
[*]Custom devices can be added by entering "Manual ECID."
[*]Apple TVs must be plugged into an outlet as well as USB. Make sure your Apple TV is plugged into the wall, then plug in via USB. Reboot your AppleTV and then start TinyUmbrella.

    Change Log

    6.1.2 Support Update
TinyUmbrella has been updated to work with iOS 6.1.2 on relevant devices. Make sure you don't update to 6.1.3 when it drops. I wasn't able to get 6.1.3 beta included (I just got too busy). But if you desire to keep your jailbreak, avoid 6.1.3 like the plague.

  13. PwnageTool 4.1

We?re pleased to release PwnageTool 4.1 for Mac OS X (free of charge, blog ads, and donation requests ? as always!). Today?s big new addition to the jailbreak family is AppleTV 2G, which was first shown jailbroken in its release week!

Through a combination of the recently released geohot limera1n exploit , @comex?s recently released pf kernel exploit, and our original pwnage2 exploit, PwnageTool 4.1 works untethered on these devices at firmware 4.1:

    AppleTV 2G
    iPad (firmware 3.2.2)
    iPod touch 4G
    iPod touch 3G
    iPhone4
    iPhone 3GS
    iPhone 3G
PwnageTool allows you to restore to a custom IPSW file. For instance, you can restore to a pre-jailbroken firmware while simultaneously maintaining your current baseband (and thus your ultrasn0w carrier unlock). You can also add whatever packages you want in the ?Expert? mode of PwnageTool, if you wish to pre-install Cydia packages. iPhone 3G users get the additional benefit of selecting their own boot and recovery logos, and features like multitasking and battery charge percentage.

PwnageTool?s main advantage to ramdisk-based methods (limera1n, greenpois0n, redsn0w) is for unlockers ? those that need to keep their current baseband and preserve their ultrasn0w unlock. But in this new age of both bootrom- and userland-based exploits, it?s an excellent platform for continuing the jailbreak through all future firmwares. More on this later! In the meantime, please enjoy this free software and please provide any usage feedback in our comment section below.

AppleTV 2G users: Welcome to the JB family! Right now, about all you can do is command-line stuff via ssh. You also have afc2 available, so you can use tools like ifunbox to move files around. These are the *very* early days of AppleTV 2G jailbreaking, so it?ll take some time for JB app developers to come up with methods to use your AppleTV 2G from the remote, versus the command line. PS: Your ssh password is ?alpine??please change it when you can

Expert mode: By popular demand, the IPSW file selection in Expert mode is now completely manual (doesn?t use Spotlight). Just pick your IPSW file directly instead of waiting for the Spotlight search to complete. In Expert mode, the default is to hacktivate (?Activate the iPhone?), so if you have a legit SIM card be sure to deselect that option in Expert mode.

DFU button: That ?DFU? button in PwnageTool is more than it looks like. It guides you through the DFU process, but then also runs the appropriate exploit to convince your device and iTunes that all is legit. The DFU button in PwnageTool is not just your average DFU.

  18. redsn0w 0.9.2

A cross-platform jailbreaking, unlocking, and customizing tool for iPhones and iPod touches. Customizations include boot logos, recovery logos, and "verbose?? boot. It's a standalone program that doesn't use iTunes (no custom IPSWs are involved).

    This release supports:

All iPhones and iPod touches (still a tethered-only JB for late-model devices though)
    Apple firmware 3.0 and 3.1.2
Windows and Mac OSX (x86 only for now)

edsn0w doesn't require a system restore like PwnageTool does (it doesn't even use iTunes at all). On the other hand, PwnageTool can prevent your baseband from being upgraded when you upgrade your firmware, preserving your unlock. (redsn0w doesn't touch your baseband but it doesn't help preserve it during an upgrade either).

redsn0w works by modifying your current filesystem, so your existing baseband, data and applications should remain intact.

iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2
    iPad mini, Retina iPad mini
    iPod touch 5G

[*]Please disable the passcode as the jailbreak may fail, if the passcode is enabled (Settings -> General -> Passcode Lock On -> Turn Passcode Off).
[*]Take a backup of your device using iTunes or iCloud before proceeding.
[*]Please ensure you’ve updated iTunes to the latest version.
[*]Please note that jailbreaking your iOS device may void your warranty and hence proceed with caution and at your own risk.

Mac users: Double click on the Pangu dmg file you just downloaded to mount it.
Windows users: Launch the Pangu exe file as an Administrator. Right Click on the Pangu exe and select the “Run as Administrator?? option.

Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions. The app will ask you at one point to set your iOS device to June 2nd. To do this, go to Settings -> General -> Date & Time.
Step 5: After you change the date, it should restart the process and install the Pangu app on your iOS device.
Step 6: Tap on the Pangu app on the Home screen of your device when prompted to continue with the jailbreak process. You will get a warning message, which will ask you whether you are “sure you want to open the Application “Pangu?? from Developer “iPhone Distribution: Hefei Bo Fang communication technology co., LTD???. Tap on the Continue button to continue with the jailbreak process.
Step 7: Wait for your device to reboot several times. After a few minutes you should see that you have Cydia on your home screen and you’ll be ready to start installing tweaks on iOS 7.1.2. You can also revert back to set the time automatically via the Settings app.
